Perched along the wooded slopes overlooking Bhimtal, Naturevolt Global Skywalk is conceived as an extension of the mountain rather than an object placed upon it. The project reinterprets the traditional hill bazaar as a contemporary, multi-level public landscape: a sequence of terraces, promenades, courts and viewpoints woven into the natural topography.
Rather than imposing a singular monument on the hillside, the architecture unfolds gradually. A curved retail promenade embraces the contours of the site, while a circular pavilion anchors the composition with panoramic views across the lake and surrounding valleys. Roof gardens, planted terraces and open-air decks dissolve the boundary between building and landscape, allowing visitors to experience the changing light, mist and seasons of Kumaon as an integral part of the architecture.
The programme combines retail, hospitality, dining, entertainment and public gathering spaces into a single civic destination. Restaurants overlook the valley, cafés spill onto landscaped terraces, and an elevated skywalk offers uninterrupted views of the Himalayan foothills. Throughout the project, movement is choreographed as a continuous spatial experience rather than a sequence of enclosed interiors.
Materiality is deliberately restrained. Locally resonant stone, textured concrete, timber screens and expansive glazing establish a quiet architectural language that belongs to its setting. Deep overhangs, shaded terraces and naturally ventilated public spaces respond to the mountain climate while reducing dependence on mechanical systems. The landscape is conceived not as decoration but as architecture itself: native planting, rainwater management and terraced gardens reinforce the ecological character of the site.
Naturevolt Global Skywalk aspires to become more than a commercial development. It is imagined as a contemporary public realm for the region: a place where commerce, culture, leisure and landscape coexist. By allowing the mountain to remain the primary protagonist, the architecture frames rather than competes with its extraordinary setting.
The development is envisioned as a mixed-use destination comprising retail, food and beverage, hospitality and public amenities, including a skywalk with panoramic views over Bhimtal, in line with the project's published vision.
