Ajay Binay Institute

College of Architecture constructed as a way to explain brick construction to students in Odisha.

An academic institute which houses  a school of architecture is always a challenge since the building must become a source of inspiration to the students while demonstrating ways of building that are innovative and instructive.

Building for Learning

An academic institute which houses  a school of architecture is always a challenge since the building must become a source of inspiration to the students while demonstrating ways of building that are innovative and instructive. The institute was designed using passive technologies of orientation and shading and employed the "rat-trap" brick bond which has proven to be a device to insulate walls while reducing material consumption. Since this private institute was built with a very limited budget, the spaces have been designed to function with minimum cooling and lighting requirements.

A brick dome was added to the upper floor classrooms as another demonstration of building spanning structures using brick.
